Legacy Gala Award Winners Announced

Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate parish and community members for the annual Holy Cross Academy Legacy Gala Awards. We are truly blessed to have so many deserving nominees in our communities. It is with great joy that we announce the winners:

Mr. Al Winkelmann, retired superintendent of elementary education for the Archdiocese of St. Louis, will receive the School Sisters of Notre Dame Academic Excellence Award. Mr. Winkelmann was involved in the collaborative efforts that created Holy Cross Academy, from the very early meetings with pastors, to the July 2012 opening of the school. He supported the pastors, trained our board of directors and supported HCA's leadership team. To this day, he maintains involvement with the Academy.

Mrs. Mary Ann Prives and Mrs. Pat Menning, from Our Lady of Providence, will receive the Sisters of Mercy Social Justice Award. The two created and continue to lead the parish's bereavement group. Members of this group provide much needed support for OLP parishioners as they learn to negotiate life without their loved one(s). We want to honor these ladies for the countless hours they have spent supporting people in their time of great need.

Mr. Steve and Mrs. Cathy LaBarge, from Annunciation, will receive the Sisters of Providence Faith Formation Award for their dedication to living out their Catholic faith. Cathy and Steve have been active as faith leaders by lectoring, serving and working on various parish committees. Cathy volunteers countless hours to serve senior citizens of the parish. Steve is a dedicated member of the Stewardship and Finance committees. We are excited to honor this couple for their dedication of time and talent to support parish members.

Mr. Shawn and Mrs. Diana Harmon of St. Michael the Archangel will receive the Ursuline Sisters of the Roman Union Stewardship Award for acting as true stewards of the community. When there is a need, the Harmon's are there in support of it. They have volunteered countless hours of painting, fixing, building and repairing the parish and school buildings. They are good at not only noticing a need, but mobilizing support to address any needs they see. This is a wonderful opportunity to show the couple how grateful we are for their dedicated serfvice.

Mrs. Marcy Rodriguez from Seven Holy Founders will receive the Servites & Ursuline Sisters of Mount St. Joseph Community Award for her dedicated service to Seven Holy Founders and Holy Cross Academy. Whether it is running monthly bingo, serving on the HCA Board of Directors or working in the Holy Cross Academy Parent Association, Marcy creates community wherever she goes. We are happy to honor this woman of faith who connects people and their talents to the mission of the Church.

If you would like to personally show your appreciation for the winners, please join us at the Holy Cross Academy Legacy Gala on November 14, 2015, at the Cardinal Rigali Center. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to thank these awardees for their many years of dedication to our parishes and schools. We look forward to a wonderful evening where we celebrate past, present and future leaders in the Holy Cross Academy community.
