HCA Open House
Open House Information
Holy Cross Academy will host open houses at its Annunciation, Our Lady of Providence, and St. Michael the Archangel campuses on Sunday, January 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Free and open to the public, the open houses kick off Catholic Schools Week which runs Sunday, January 25 to Saturday, January 31.
This year’s theme for Catholic Schools Week is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.” This theme fits perfectly for Holy Cross Academy as we are a unique model of parish communities brought together by their commitment to faith, knowledge, and service.
The only Catholic school model of its kind in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, HCA includes a self-contained middle school, grades 6-8, on its Annunciation campus and two feeder Preschool- 5th grade campuses at Our Lady of Providence and St. Michael the Archangel.
HCA prides itself on the traditions of its four founding parishes: faith formation, academic excellence, community, stewardship and social justice.
All thrive on our campuses today.
Our students at each campus celebrate Mass together weekly. Masses are planned and led by students of all ages.
Service projects are built into the overall curriculum for each grade level.
Some of the many service projects in which our students participate include “Alex’s Lemonade Stand” which raised $440 for pediatric cancer research. Middle school students make sandwiches for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and serve them at the agency’s downtown location. First graders sponsor a blanket and towel drive and then deliver the items to the Missouri Humane Society. They also participate in ‘dress down,’ or out of uniform days to raise money for homeless shelters.
Increasingly aware of the environment and the impact their generation will have upon it, students encourage one another and participate in recycling efforts.
Our students consistently score above Archdiocesan averages on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, a battery of tests which are given to many Catholic school students in grades K-8 throughout the country each year.
Two full-time learning consultants work with teachers at each campus to ensure differentiated learning encompasses the needs of all students.
Spanish is taught at every grade level. Foreign language increases our students’ awareness of and appreciation for other cultures, helps develop English skills and better prepares them for high school curriculum and Catholic Christian life in a global economy.
In 2014, more than 90 percent of our graduating eighth graders continued their educations at Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
HCA is currently enrolling students in Pre-K through eighth grade. Financial assistance is available to families seeking Catholic education for their children but may be reluctant to pursue it because of costs.
